The problems that can be caused as a consequence of flea bites include skin irritations, tapeworms, flea allergy dermatitis or FAD. Severe cases of bites of these pests can lead to anemia. However the effects of the flea bites changes and vary depending on the type of the fleas and the sensitivity of the host.
In spite of being small and insignificant in size and stature, these blood sucking creatures have the capacity to bring about serious problems and worry for humans and pets. These parasites also serve as host to numerous dangerous diseases, a few among them being plague and typhus. They also act as intermediate hosts to dog tapeworm. Flea bites on humans lead to formation of small, red, hard and slightly raised spot on the affected area, which often causes an itching sensation. Bleeding can also occur, especially if the affected area is scratched. A single puncture point is also caused by the bite, which is apparent in the center of each spot.
Flea bites can normally be observed on the ankle and leg areas. The reactions of these bites are different on different people. Some may be totally unattractive to these pests and might not be affected by their presence again others may be appealing and sensitive to them, which might result in serious allergic reactions due to such bites. Though flea bites tend to improve within a few days, by itself you can apply some steroid medicine like creams and lotions to heal the affected areas faster.
